Gifting Thoughtfully: The Perfect Easter Basket for Needlepointers
Share
With Easter right around the corner, you may be looking for small things to add to spruce up the basket of the needlepointer in your life. However, with the rising cost of canvases and threads and the ongoing shortages that the needlepoint industry is facing, you may be reaching a dead end in your search. Fear not, I am here to help you!
A solid, affordable option would be a gift card. I know, I know, it's "impersonal" and "no fun," but a gift card offers the receiver with the flexibility to spend the money in the way that supports their hobby. It prevents purchase of duplicates of canvases, unfavorable or incorrect threads, and items that don't suit the needlepointer's taste. A way to personalize this option is to buy a gift card to the needlepointer's favorite shop or reach out to their favorite designer to see if they offer gift certificates. This way, the gift card is both personable and flexible to the specific stitcher's wants and needs. You could even include a note with the gift card describing what you are intending to gift them!
Another option for the needlepointer in your life is to go to the LNS and explore! Chances are that this needlepointer wants you involved in their hobby as well. A trip to your local needlepoint shop to check out some unique canvases, threads, and accessories could easily offer inspiration to fill their Easter basket. A little "this reminded me of you" or "I haven't seen this in your stash" can go such a long way in showing interest in the hobby that means so much to them! You can even ask the ladies or gentlemen at the shop for some direction.
Mini needlepoint canvases are all the rage these days and they are typically some of the most affordable, so including one of these minis could be a great basket filler! While we offer specific Easter themed minis, many other designers offer more universal minis that can be stitched and finished into bag charms, small ornaments, or even magnets. These minis are sometimes offered as kits for a small charge which can also be used to introduce needlepoint to friends and family. These kits will typically come with the canvas, a needle, and the threads you need to stitch it. This is a great option for a friend who has mentioned wanting to get into needlepoint.
Accessories like needle minders, project bags, and tools like small scissors, magnifying lenses, and seam rippers are typically priced reasonably and always nice to have as well. I like to grab needle minders that remind me of trips, funny stories, or even just ones that I think are pretty and with all of my current WIPs (works in progress) going, I can never have too many project bags. These accessories are where you can add a little personality and thought into your gift. Small spring colored scissors, a floral project bag, or even a bunny needle minder could bring together the whole basket!

At the end of the day, it really is the thought that counts. I'm a sucker for "this made me think of you" and anything needlepoint, so receiving anything that I listed above would make me happy! I can guarantee that your needlepointing friend or family member is sure to love anything that comes from the heart.
